Malick
Ceesay is an LA-based playwright of Gambian-American heritage. His plays includeWAITING IN VAIN, BRUISED SILHOUETTE, SACROSANCT, and THE JAZZ
EQUATION. In 2019, WAITING IN VAIN, was workshopped and produced at
Augsburg University with Ambiance Theatre Company. Other works have been
featured in Black MN Voices (published in 2020), The Plugged App, and Sunspot
Literary Journal (fall of 2021). He is a part of the 2019-21 cohort for Red Eye Theater’s New Works 4 Weeks
Festival (NW4W) for his film projects (in-progress) a mascu- poem. and MANSAYA.
As a writer and performer, he has worked with Underdog Theatre, Capri Theatre
(PCYC), Red Eye Theatre, Full Circle Theatre, The Playwrights’ Center, Lyric
Arts, and the Guthrie. Malick sits as the Associate Artistic Director of
Ambiance Theatre Company. As a Twin Cities native, he received his BFA from Augsburg University and
pursuing his MFA in Playwriting at UCLA as a Graduate Opportunities Fellow.
